#NigeriaDecides2023: Obi Wins In Ebonyi

As the 2023 elections draw closer, a group under the Obidient Movement known as Value-Driven Leadership (VDL) has launched a mobile application to serve as a virtual meeting point for all supporters of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

The App which was formally launched in Lagos on Monday, January 9, 2023, is to help Obi’s supporters known as ‘Obidients’ to interact, mobilise and plan activities across wards and polling units in the country.

The mobile application will also serve as a tool for mobilising and canvassing support for the LP presidential candidate.

In a statement in Lagos, the Co-convener of VDL, Mrs Nwamaka Okoye, said the Town-hall Platform will play a vital role in the electioneering process.

Okoye said: “Nigeria urgently needs strong electioneering and governance systems to usher in a new generation of leaders. We built the Townhall app to turn online advocacy into offline action,” Okoye said.

She added: “With the application, Obidients will receive their day-to-day mandate directly from the campaign, state coordinators, support groups, and polling unit members across the country.

“Furthermore, the app will aid the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council to monitor and manage an already successful campaign effectively.”

Commenting on the innovation, Special Adviser to Obi on Technology and Strategic Alliances, Valentine Ozigbo, said the Town-hall platform is a “game changer” that will help the Obidients in monitoring the election process.

Ozigbo, who said their role is to see how they can leverage the power of technology to facilitate all their activities before and after the election, commended VDL for coming up with such an initiative as part of its contribution to the Obi-Datti presidential campaign.

“The usefulness of this tool can not be overstated as it will change the dynamics of this election and help HE Peter Obi become the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ozigbo, a contestant during Anambra 2021 governorship election stated.

While urging all Obi supporters to download the Town-hall App for ease of interaction, Ozigbo said “With the App,  we’ll overcome every negativity, every prediction of doom, fear of rigging and other things that people are afraid about in the election.”
