Bayelsa United ran away with a 3-0 win over visiting Shooting Stars at the Samson Siasia stadium Yenagoa on Friday.

The homers appear to have prepared for goal raid netting all the goals before the end of first half. Ogha Ifeanyi had opened scoring in the 27th minute of the match with Mgbabisa Wisdom bringing his wisdom to bear by increasing the tally in the 40th minute.

The icing on the cake came in the 46th minute when Kehinde Lawal added his name to the scoresheet of the day.

Bayelsa maintained 57% to 43% possession ratio all through the encounter. Shooting Stars currently occupy the fifth position on the log with 48 points in 33 matches while Bayelsa are ninth with 45 points in 33 matches. Bayelsa United have not lost in their last seven games.

The defeat marks Shooting Stars’ heaviest loss this season and a reminder to their defeat by same margin by Remo Stars 29 months ago.

Meanwhile table toppers Remo stars continue their cruise at the top with six points gap ahead of second placed Rivers United. The gap is gradually closing at the top with Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City following in hot pursuit.

Remo Stars welcome Kastina United on Sunday hoping to further improve their standing and extend the lead at the top.

Underrating Kastina United will however not be an option for the Daniel Ogunmodede tutored Remo Stars.

With the exception of Shooting Stars and Bayelsa United, the remaining 18 teams of the Premier league will be in action on Sunday.

There will be oriental derby between reigning champions Rangers international and Heartland of Owerri at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in the Coal City.

Enyimba who are showing no sign of finishing at the top four this season, will be guests of Sunshine Stars in Akure, while Kano Pillars basking in the euphoria of super Eagles ace Ahmed Musa return, welcome Lobi Stars in Kano.

Musa was away on prayer trip in Saudi Arabia last month and missed a couple of Pillars’ league and Federation Cup games.

The forward rejoined his teammates in training on Wednesday. The 32-year-old has scored six times for Kano Pillars this season and stands a chance of increasing the tally on Sunday.

In other matches lined up for Sunday, Abia Warriors welcome Rivers United, Akwa United battle El Kanemi Warriors in Uyo while Kwara United settle scores with Bendel Insurance in Ilorin.

At the Lafia Township Stadium and Mobalaji Johnson Arena respectively, Nasarawa United and Plateau United will do battle just as the Lagos arena hosts Ikorodu City against Niger Tornadoes.
