Nigerian Stock Investors Lose N621.99 billion In One Day

Nigerian Exchange Limited, the capital market authority, revealed that the equity capitalisation of the stock market lost N621.99 billion on Monday.

It closed at N29.28 trillion market capitalisation, which is -2.08 per cent above last week Friday’s N29.90 trillion.

The All-Share Index shed 1,141.76 basis points from Friday’s 54,892.53 ASI to close today’s trading activities with 53,750.77 ASI. 

About N4.34 billion was traded for 100.88 million shares on Monday, in 3,279 deals. 

Investors had exchanged 137 million shares, worth N3.87 billion, in 2,912 deals on Friday. 

Top five gainers

  • Courtville’s share appreciated by 6.67 per cent to rise from N0.45kobo to N0.48kobo per share
  • NPF Microfinance grew by 2.70 per cent, up from N1.85kobo to N1.90kobo per share
  • AIICO ended trading with N0.58kobo from N0.57kobo per share, rising by 1.75 per cent.
  • First Bank Holdings gained N0.10kobo to end trading at N11, having opened with N10.90kobo per share.
  • Zenith Bank’s stock was up by 0.20 per cent, closing at N25 from N24.95kobo per share      

Top five losers

  • NCR depreciated by N0.23kobo, dwindling from N2.35kobo to N2.12kobo per share.          
  • Unity Bank also fell by 9.43 per cent to end trading at N0.48kobo, after opening with N0.53kobo per share.   
  • Prestige followed the same path, losing 8.89 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.41kobo from N0.45kobo per share.          
  • Sunu Assurance reported a decline of 8.33 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.48kobo to end trading at N0.44kobo per share.          
  • Airtel Africa’s share depreciated to N1420 from N1548.70kobo, after losing N128.70kobo per cent during trading hours.           

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange    

  • GTCO reported 12.83 million shares valued at N318.51 million were traded on its floor            
  • Zenith Bank recorded 11.91 million shares valued at N297.98 million          
  • UBA saw investors trade 10.03 million of its shares valued at N80.24 million          
  • MTN Nigeria recorded 8.26 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.92 billion          
  • First Bank reported 7.71 million shares, valued at N84.57 million, exchanged investors’ hands
