1. Long Awaited Student Loan To Begin Friday

The long awaited implementation of the Student Loan Scheme is said to begin on Friday, 2 May 2024 in Federal tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, Akintunde Sawyerr at a pre-application sensitization press conference had said that 1.2 million students in Federal Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Technical colleges are beneficiaries of the first phase

The federal government and Organized Labour resume the National minimum wage negotiation today. The Organized Labour held a meeting on Monday where it was revealed that the National minimum wage negotiation with the government must be finalized by May 31st.

3. World Culture Day: Minister urges Nigerians To See Strength In Diversity

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, has urged all Nigerians to see the diversity as a source of strength.

In celebration of World culture day, she gave an address urging Nigerians to take pride in their culture. She emphasized on the need to promote their cultural heritage as their culture has the potential to promote National unity, economic development and social mental well-being.

4. Otti Orders Immediate Rescue Of Kidnapped School Children in Abia

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has ordered the swift action to rescue school kids of same parents who were kidnapped by a motorcycle operator at Ikwuano.

According to reports by the Commissioner of Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the governor expressed his grief over the incident. Otti said he had instructed the security agencies to rescue the missing kids unhurt. He said that the governor have personally called the parents and had assured them that the state would do something about it.


5. Cardiologist Warns That Other Factors Contribute to Blood Pressure

Consultant Physician  and Nephrologist at the Federal Medical Center, Ebutte Metta, Lagos, Dr Danladi Nmadu has warned that other factors apart from reduction in salt intake can contribute to raising blood pressure. In a media cha, Nmadu said the reduction in salt intake does not just include table salt but also seasonings which contain a lot of salt. He stated that reducing salt intake is ineffective without appropriate reduction of seasonings in food.

6. Benzema Set To Leave Saudi Arabian Club

Al-Ittihad striker, Karim Benzema is set to leave his Saudi Arabian club.

According to Relevo, during his last visit to Madrid, he told his friends of his intentions to leave the club due to the low level of competition and perceived lack of professionalism which he (Benzema) is not satisfied with.


7. Another Benue Girl Found Dead in Abuja

Another Benue girl identified as Margaret Oyibo Atayi was found dead in Abuja in the late hours of Monday.

Margaret who hails from Ugbokolo Okpokwu LGA of Benue State was declared missing on Friday, 17th May, 2024. She was last seen around City College of Education, Abacha Road, Mararaba, near Abuja at about 3pm on Friday, 17th May, 2024.

8. Burna Boy set to join Nollywood

Grammy award Winner, Burna Boy, is set to join the Nigeria movie industry known as Nollywood.

The ‘African Giant’ is set to be the executive producer in Black Mic Mac’s upcoming movie titled 3 Cold Dishes. He will executively produce the movie through a company called Spaceship Films which he founded together with his mother, Bose Ogulu.

9. Lagos Government Launches of Cybersecurity Project

The Lagos State government has announced the launch of cybersecurity project in the state.

According to the announcement on Monday, 20th May, 2024 by the Commissioner for Science, Innovation and Technology, Mr Olatunbosun Aláké at the Ministerial Press Briefing in Alausa Ikeja, the project is designed to enhance the safety and protection of the state’s digital infrastructure from cyber crooks.

10. What’s Happening In Gaza Is Not Genocide – Biden

U.S President, Joe Biden, has opposed the accusations made against the Israeli leadership of committing genocide.

Biden said” Contrary to the allegations against Israel made by the International Court of Justice, what’s happening is not genocide. We reject that.”
