The Nigerian market accounted for 24.06 percent of Airtel’s revenue in Africa in 2025, rising from 20.28 percent in 2024, as the Nigerian subsidiary’s customer base grew by 8 percent year-on-year, from 28.2 million to 30.5 million.

According to the company’s results for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2025, Airtel Nigeria accounted for $1.12 billion out of the $4.66 billion generated by Airtel Africa during the same period.

In 2024, Airtel Africa recorded a $3.63 billion turnover, with the Nigerian market accounting for $738 million of the revenue.

Airtel Nigeria’s revenue had increased by 52.1 percent year-on-year, compared to the 28.3 percent growth recorded by the parent company, according to Prime Business Africa’s analysis.

Out of the revenue generated by the Nigerian subsidiary in 2025, voice turnover contributed $432 million, compared to the $315 million contributed in 2024.

This represents a 36.9 percent increase, compared to the 17.1 percent increase Airtel Africa experienced in its voice revenue, which grew from $1.70 billion to $1.45 billion.

In addition, Airtel Nigeria’s data revenue grew by 67.4 percent year-on-year, from $344 million to $576 million, while that of the parent company increased by 39.8 percent, from $1.30 billion to $1.82 billion.

The subsidiary also reported other revenue of $115 million in 2025, which is 45.5 percent higher than the $79 million posted in the previous year.

Also, Airtel Nigeria achieved a $359 million operating profit during the period under review, up from the $219 million recorded in 2024, representing a 64 percent growth.

At the end of the period under review, Airtel Africa said it incurred $2.40 billion in expenses across its subsidiaries in 2025, compared to the $1.97 billion expended in 2024.

The telecommunications company earned $1.02 billion as profit before tax (PBT) in Nigeria and other African countries where it operates in 2025, rising by 107.2 percent, above the $494 million generated the year before.

Airtel Africa incurred $437 million in income tax last year, against the $246 million paid as taxes in 2024.

The 77.4 percent increase in tax expense reduced the profit to $586 million in 2025, compared to the $248 million reached the previous year, indicating a 136.6 percent growth.
