Nigerian Govt Declares Public Holiday On Monday, September 16

The Federal Government has declared Monday, 16th September, as a public holiday. The announcement was made on Friday, 13th September, by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, on behalf of the government.

The public holiday has been declared to enable Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Eid-ul-Mawlid is an important occasion for Muslims, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad. It is a time of reflection and celebration for the Muslim community.

The Federal Government, in recognition of this event, decided to grant a public holiday to allow Muslims the time to observe this special day.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and wished them a peaceful celebration. He also urged citizens to continue to uphold peace, unity, and tolerance during this period.
