Nigeria Revenue Service Unveils New Identity, Logo as Transition From FIRS Takes Effect

January 1, 2026

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has officially unveiled its new institutional identity and logo, marking the formal transition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the full implementation of Nigeria’s sweeping tax and revenue reforms.

The unveiling, which took place on Wednesday in Abuja, follows the enactment of the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act, 2025, signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June 2025, Prime Business Africa reports. The Act repealed the former FIRS framework and established the NRS as Nigeria’s central and unified revenue authority.

Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of the NRS, Mr. Zacch Adedeji, described the new identity as a significant milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s revenue administration. He said the rebranding reflects a renewed commitment to building a more unified, efficient and service-oriented revenue system aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda and global best practices.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Dare Adekanmbi, Adedeji noted that the transition goes beyond a change of name and logo, stressing that it represents a strategic repositioning of the nation’s revenue architecture. He said the new identity signals continuity of purpose, strengthened institutional capacity and a forward-looking approach to supporting taxpayers and national development.

The Service further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, partnership and service excellence, describing the unveiling as the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public, built on trust, clarity and shared prosperity.

The transition to the NRS coincides with the commencement of Nigeria’s new tax regime, which took effect on January 1, 2026, as part of broader fiscal reforms aimed at modernising tax administration, improving compliance and expanding revenue mobilisation.

With expanded responsibilities under the 2025 Act, the NRS is expected to play a central role in driving Nigeria’s fiscal reforms and strengthening government revenue in support of national development.
