NGX Resumes Trading With N259bn Loss, Records Over N34bn Deals

At the end of trading on Friday, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) fell to N148.9 trillion, following depreciation in the share value of Aradel, International Energy Insurance, and others.

NGX’s market capitalisation decreased by N982.96 billion from the N149.88 trillion reported on Thursday.

The all-share index (ASI) contracted by 1,531.81 basis points, from 233,580.83 ASI to 232,049.02 ASI.

About 388.68 million shares were exchanged in 44,631 deals, valued at N18.43 billion, on Friday, indicating traders reduced their participation in the stock market when compared to the 393.64 million shares, valued at N19.21 billion, and traded in 45,813 deals, on Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

  • FGSUK2033S6’s share price increased by N21.99 kobo, from N100.99 kobo to N122.99 kobo per share.
  • Universal Insurance’s share value grew by 6.32 percent, from N0.95 kobo to N1.01 per share.
  • McNichols’ share appreciated by N0.45 kobo, to end trading at N8.60 kobo, having opened with N8.15 kobo.
  • Linkage Assurance’s share ended trading at N1.57 kobo per share, from N1.50 kobo per share – indicating an increase of 4.67 percent.
  • NGX Group’s share value was up by N5, after closing at N120, from N115 per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Aradel’s share price depreciated by N157.50 kobo, dwindling from N1,575 to N1,417.50 kobo per share.
  • International Energy Insurance recorded a N0.64 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.79 kobo, after opening with N6.43 kobo.
  • TransferExpress recorded a N0.36 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.28 kobo, after opening with N3.28 kobo per share.
  • ETranzact lost N1.60 kobo in its share price, to sell at N14.75 kobo, down from N16.35 kobo per share.
  • UPDC reported a decline of N0.35 kobo, from the previous share price of N3.60 kobo, to end trading at N3.25 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 33.22 million shares valued at N758.25 million were traded on its floor.
  • Wema Bank recorded 24.34 million shares valued at N680.37 million.
  • Deap Capital saw investors trade 24.06 million of its shares valued at N97.31 million.
  • Chams recorded 18.97 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N75.31 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported that traders exchanged 17.32 million shares valued at N131.60 million.
