NGX Rebounds With N916bn Gain, Traders Reduce Market Activities

NGX Market Cap Down By N606bn, Traders Seal N50bn Deals

The Nigerian stock market recovered from Monday’s loss with a N916.89 billion gain on Tuesday, according to data obtained from the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited.

NGX data showed that the gain followed a 1,430.59 basis points gain by the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 250,204.83 ASI to 251,635.42.

Following the expansion in the index, the market capitalisation of the NGX increased to N161.27 trillion, from N160.36 trillion reported on Monday.

Trading closed with traders exchanging 703.95 million in 64,539 deals, worth N32.14 billion, falling below the 800.46 million shares traded in 87,096 deals, valued at N37.04 billion, on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

  • FTN Cocoa share price increased by N0.89 kobo, from N8.90 kobo to N9.79 kobo per share.
  • Zichis’ share value grew by N2.64 kobo, from N26.49 kobo to N29.13 kobo per share.
  • Skyway Aviation’s share appreciated by N14, to end trading at N156.95 kobo, having opened with N142.95 kobo.
  • Caverton’s share ended trading at N6.75 Kobo per share, from N6.15 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.60 kobo.
  • Japaul Gold’s share value was up by N0.33 kobo, after closing at N3.72 kobo, from N3.39 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Unilever Nigeria share price depreciated by N17, dwindling from N170 to N153 per share.
  • TransExpress recorded a N0.77 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.99 kobo, after opening with N7.76 kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance recorded a N0.26 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.39 kobo, after opening with N2.65 kobo per share.
  • McNichols lost N0.74 kobo in its share price, to sell at N7.25 kobo, down from N7.99 kobo per share.
  • Austin Laz reported a decline of N0.33 kobo, from the previous share price of N4.53 kobo, to end trading at N4.20 Kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 88.40 million shares valued at N2.25 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Linkage Assurance recorded 46.23 million shares valued at N83.54 million.
  • Sterling Financial saw investors trade 44.91 million of its shares valued at N349.29 million.
  • NSLTECH recorded 35.03 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N31.62 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported that traders exchanged 30.39 million shares valued at N3.99 billion.
