NGX Rebounds With N72bn Gain, International Energy Insurance, Unilever Lead Recovery

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited said the stock market capitalisation increased marginally to N159.73 trillion on Thursday, from the N159.66 trillion recorded on Wednesday.

According to the NGX, the market capitalisation increased by N72.43 billion after the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 113.02 basis points, from 249,062.37 ASI to 249,175.39 ASI.

The volume of shares traded on Thursday was 1.05 billion in 62,448 deals, valued at N30.96 billion, exceeding the 600.22 million shares exchanged in 58,958 deals, valued at N32.71 billion, on Wednesday.

Top Five Gainers

  • International Energy Insurance share price increased by N0.31 kobo, from N3.10 kobo to N3.41 kobo per share.
  • Associated Bus Company’s share value grew by N0.82 kobo, from N8.26 kobo to N9.08 per share.
  • Unilever’s share appreciated by N15, to end trading at N168, having opened with N153.
  • Academy’s share ended trading at N8.45 kobo per share, from N7.70 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.75 kobo.
  • Eunisell’s share value was up by N18.05, after closing at N209.95 kobo, from N191.90 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • FGSUK2031S4 share price depreciated by N18.99 kobo, dwindling from N98.99 to N80 per share.
  • Berger Paints recorded a N16.40 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N147.60 kobo, after opening with N164 per share.
  • Learn Africa recorded a N1.30 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N11.75 kobo, after opening with N13.05 per share.
  • DAAR Communications lost N0.21 kobo in its share price, to sell at N1.90 kobo, down from N2.11 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe reported a decline of N1.41 kobo, from the previous share price of N12.79 kobo, to end trading at N14.20 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Sterling Financial reported that 322.68 million shares valued at N2.57 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Japaul Gold recorded 96.38 million shares valued at N416.14 million.
  • Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 57.03 million of its shares valued at N1.32 billion.
  • Access Holdings recorded 52.22 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.32 billion.
  • Lasaco reported that traders exchanged 42.53 million shares valued at N86.73 million.
