NGX Rebounds With N3.36trn Gain — As Traders Exchange N68bn Shares

The bourse recovered from Monday’s loss with N3.36 trillion gain on Tuesday, as the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) increased from N143.91 trillion to N147.27 trillion.

NGX data showed that the market capitalisation appreciated after the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 5,218.9 basis points.

The index expanded to 228,740.19 ASI, from the previous day’s 223,521.29 ASI.

The volume of shares traded increased to 907.96 million in 72,886 deals, valued at N68.23 billion on Tuesday, exceeding the 605.23 million shares exchanged by equity traders in 77,290 deals, worth N35.88 billion, on Monday

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2031S4’s share price increased by N15.93 kobo, from N83 to N98.94 kobo per share.
  • IMG’s share value grew by N3.60 kobo, from N36 to N39.60 kobo per share.
  • FTN Cocoa’s share appreciated by N0.50 kobo to end trading at N39.60 kobo, having opened with N36.
  • WAPCO ended trading at N324.50 kobo per share, from N295 per share – indicating an increase of N29.50 kobo.
  • Austin Laz’s share value was up by N0.33 kobo, after closing at N3.73 kobo from N3.40 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • UBA share price depreciated by N4.95 kobo dwindling from N49.50 kobo to N44.55 kobo per share.
  • TransExpress recorded a N0.71 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.50 kobo after opening with N7.11 kobo per share.
  • Jaiz Bank recorded a N0.79 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N8.01 after opening with N8.80 kobo per share.
  • Berger Paints lost N6.45 kobo in its share price, to sell at N68 from N74.45 kobo per share.
  • MCNichols reported a decline of N0.54 kobo from the previous share price of N6.60 kobo to end trading at N6.06 per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 21.95 million shares valued at N5.78 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 64.37 million shares valued at N1.2 billion.
  • Wema Bank saw investors trade 49.27 million of its shares valued at N1.74 billion.
  • Linkage Assurance recorded 47.52 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N76.45 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported that traders exchanged 39.84 million shares valued at N4.86 billion.
