Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, has declined for three days straight.

NGX revealed that the bourse’s market capitalisation dropped by N910.48 billion to N153.85 trillion on Thursday, from the N154.76 trillion reported on Wednesday.

This followed a 1,418.66 basis points decrease in the all-share index (ASI), which declined from 241,153.27 ASI to 239,734.61 ASI.

On the trading floor, 1.83 billion shares exchanged investors’ hands in 81,131 deals, valued at N72.16 billion, compared to the 1.23 billion shares traded in 75,256 deals, worth N49.19 billion, on Thursday.

Top Five Gainers

  • Chemical and Allied Product’s share price increased by N19.30 kobo, from N193.20 kobo to N212.50 kobo per share.
  • FTN Cocoa’s share value grew by N0.73 kobo, from N7.31 kobo to N8.04 per share.
  • Zichis’ share appreciated by N2.75 kobo, to end trading at N30.33 kobo, having opened with N27.58 kobo.
  • Meyer’s share ended trading at N30.33 kobo per share, from N15.55 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.55 kobo.
  • Berger Paints’ share value was up by N8.95 kobo, after closing at N98.75 kobo, from N89.80 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • FGSUK2031S4 share price depreciated by N18, dwindling from N99 to N81 per share.
  • UPL recorded a N0.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.50 kobo, after opening with N5 per share.
  • Redstar Express recorded a N2.70 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N25.45 kobo, after opening with N28.15 kobo per share.
  • Skyaviation lost N12.35 kobo in its share price, to sell at N130.75 kobo, down from N143.10 kobo per share.
  • C&I Leasing reported a decline of N0.65 kobo from the previous share price of N7.65 kobo, to end trading at N7 per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • NEM reported that 360.56 million shares valued at N7.93 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Fortis Global Insurance recorded 21.47 million shares valued at N229.82 million.
  • VFD Group saw investors trade 141.46 million of its shares valued at N1.49 billion.
  • Access Holdings recorded 140.37 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N3.38 billion.
  • FCMB reported that traders exchanged 119.62 million shares valued at N1.34 billion.
