NDLEA Siezes N6bn Drugs Imported By Insurgents At Apapa

NATIONAL Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 6 billion naira worth of illegal drugs, imported by insurgents at Apapa port, Lagos.

Chief Executive Officer, Rtd Brig. Mohamed Buba Marwa who stated this at a media briefing, condemned the evil acts of those behind the importation of the illicit substance at a time when the nation is facing some security challenges.

According to Marwa, the drugs known as Captagon, which has been linked to the escalation of the Syrian war, is controlled by militias and large criminal groups in the Middle east.

What should give any discerning Nigerian a nightmare concerning this drug is the fact that its production and sale is controlled by militias and large criminal groups in the Middle East.

Captagon has been linked to the escalation of the Syrian Civil War, and it has been rumoured that ISIS is behind the production and sale of Captagon, as a means of generating funds for weapons and combatants, and for use as a stimulant to keep them fighting.est we forget,

Similarly, The Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Femi Babafemi,  has vowed that the agency would not rest until everyone connected to the consignment is arrested and prosecuted

Babafemi, who disclosed that the intel used to track the container of illicit narcotics was received from the Middle East, expressed concerns over the intensified sale of hard drugs in the country, and the impact of hard drugs in the hands of criminals.

In his words, “This is the same condition we have presently with insurgents, bandits, cultists, robbers, kidnappers and herders spilling rampaging across the country.

Two machines were also discovered with 74.119kg worth of drugs inside their rotor coils, and going by the street value of $25 per tablet, the importer would have raised $11.3 million, equivalent to N6 billion naira.
