NAPE Hails Tinubu’s New Appointments Into NNPCL Board

The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists has commended President Bola Tinubu for the appointment of a new Board and Management Team for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

In a statement released on Wednesday, signed by President of NAPE, Johnbosco Uche, the group said the appointment is a bold step towards overhauling the oil and gas sector for increased profitability, efficiency, and transparency.

Prime Business Africa had reported that in a major reshuffle of the NNPCL board and management, President Tinubu appointed Bayo Ojulari to replace Mele Kyari as the Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman of the board of the national oil company.

NAPE said it is delighted that the newly appointed members of the NNPCL board are seasoned professionals who would deploy their expertise and years of professional experience in critical decisions that would reposition Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

The professional body of petroleum explorationists expressed optimism that the board would help to enhance operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and increase commercial viability of the company.

“The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists wishes to express its profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent appointment of a new Board and Management Team for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, part of the statement reads.

“NAPE is delighted to observe that the newly appointed board comprises seasoned professionals, including Austin Avuru, a former President of NAPE who has held esteemed top management positions within the oil and gas industry.

“The new board’s mandate to enhance operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and increase commercial viability aligns with NAPE’s goals and aspirations for the industry.

‘We are confident that the new team will bring the necessary expertise and experience to drive the oil and gas sector forward.”

Meanwhile, the Management of NNPCL has welcomed the appointment of new Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bayo Ojulari, and Board of Directors for the Company by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement signed by the NNPCL Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the management and staff of the national oil company expressed appreciation to the outgoing GCEO, Mr. Mele Kyari, and the former Board Members for their selfless and service to the Company and to the country.

Soneye said: “Mr. Kyari’s leadership and tireless efforts have left an indelible mark on NNPC Ltd., and we are sincerely grateful for his outstanding contributions.”
