Mohbad: Police Rearrests Associate, Primeboy

In a recent development, the Lagos State Police Command has once again apprehended Ibrahim Owodunni, mostly known as Primeboy, an Afro singer.

Prime Business Africa reports that Primeboy was taken into custody on Tuesday morning during his scheduled visit to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba, accompanied by Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Primeboy and Spending had been instructed to appear at the SCID every week as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the demise of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

During Tuesday’s visit, Primeboy was unexpectedly detained while Spending was released. “Our instructions were to report to SCID weekly. However, upon arrival this morning, Primeboy was promptly handcuffed and detained. Only Spending was allowed to leave after signing. As of now, Primeboy remains in custody,” the source revealed.

When contacted for comments, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated that he was not aware of the arrest but assured he would look into the matter. “I am currently unaware of the situation. Let me gather more information,” he responded.

Primeboy had been declared wanted by the police on October 4, 2023, and surrendered himself two days later during the course of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, filed a request in January at the coroner court in Ikorodu, seeking to summon additional witnesses to shed light on his son’s death.

Among those requested to testify were Primeboy, Spending, and Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha, who were allegedly present with the deceased at the time of the incident.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, igniting widespread controversy on social media regarding the circumstances surrounding his demise.

A former signee of Marlian Music under Naira Marley’s ownership, Mohbad parted ways with the label in February 2022.

The state Police Command had inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe Mohbad’s death, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, among others.

Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, to determine the cause of death. Hundeyin confirmed in a September 2023 tweet that the autopsy had been completed, with results awaited by the police.

Additionally, Aloba insisted in November 2023 that his son’s body should not be buried without his consent. In a December 2023 interview, Hundeyin reiterated that the command had yet to receive the autopsy report from the pathologists.
