The Juapong market project, which was officially launched during the flag-off ceremony, is expected to provide a modern trading facility for residents and support economic activities in the area.
The project forms part of the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative aimed at expanding business opportunities and promoting local enterprise.
The minister further disclosed that the Volta Star Textiles factory would be revitalised through a new strategic investor, a move expected to create thousands of jobs and revive industrial activities in the Volta Region.
Other infrastructure projects highlighted include the commencement of the Volivo–Dorfor Adidome Bridge project, as well as ongoing construction works on the Sege-Aveyime-Battor-Mepe Road, Aveyime-Asutsuare-Dorfor Adidome Road and Podoe-Abutia Road.
In a related development, Ablakwa announced the donation of 100 chest freezers to women traders at the Juapong Market, following their temporary relocation to make way for the construction of the new Mahama 24-Hour Economy Market.
According to the minister, the intervention was aimed at supporting the affected traders and helping them sustain their businesses during the construction period.
Ablakwa reaffirmed that the welfare and empowerment of his constituents remain a priority, noting that the projects and interventions reflect efforts to improve economic opportunities and infrastructure development in North Tongu.
The initiatives are part of President Mahama’s broader development agenda focused on job creation, industrial revival and the expansion of critical infrastructure across Ghana.
