Mathew Kozali, Labour Party House of Representatives candidate for Kaura Federal Constituency, has defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Gideon Gwani, in the Saturday election.
Mathew is said to lack a white collar job but to motor bike riding business before deciding to contest for the position under the Labour Party in the new dispensation.
PDP’s Gwani currently represents Kaura Federal Constituency and is the incumbent Minority Whip of the House of Representatives. Gwani, who was seeking to return to the seat for the fifth time narrowly lost to Mathew a slim margin of just 211 votes.

Kozali polled 10,508 votes to defeat his closest rival, Gwani, who polled 10,297 votes.
Returning Officer for the election, Professor Elijah D. Ella, declared Kozali the winner, having scored the highest in number of votes cast.
Meanwhile, Professor Benjamin Kumai Gugong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came third with 9, 919 votes.
