Ruto’s Bold Move

In a decisive response to ongoing anti-government protests, Kenyan President William Ruto announced the dissolution of his entire cabinet.

“The Office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way.”

Weeks of Protests

This announcement follows three weeks of intense public demonstrations. The protests have created significant pressure on the government, demanding immediate reforms.

Ruto’s move is seen as a direct response to these calls for change.

A New Government Approach

Ruto plans to consult extensively across various sectors and political groups. “I will engage in extensive consultations with different sectors, political formations, and Kenyans at large,” he stated.

The aim is to establish a broad-based government that can expedite the necessary reforms.

Addressing Key Issues

The President outlined several key areas of focus for the new government structure. These include managing national debt, increasing domestic resources, expanding job opportunities, reducing wastage, eliminating unnecessary government agencies, and tackling corruption.

“This will consequently make the government lean, inexpensive, effective, and efficient,” Ruto explained.

Government Operations to Continue

Prime Business Africa reports that despite the cabinet dissolution, Ruto assured the public that government operations would continue uninterrupted.

“During this process, the operations of government will continue under the guidance of Principal Secretaries and other relevant officials,” he added. This assurance aims to maintain stability while the new government framework is developed.

Broader Implications

The decision to dissolve the cabinet according to Prime Business Africa is a significant political move in Kenya, reflecting the administration’s recognition of public discontent and its willingness to take bold steps.

The restructuring aims to create a more responsive and efficient government, addressing the pressing issues raised by the protests.

President Ruto’s bold action to dissolve the Kenyan cabinet amidst protests signals a pivotal moment in Kenyan politics. The coming weeks will reveal how these changes impact the nation’s governance and address the protesters’ demands.
