Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnap victims during ongoing operations targeting a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, in Katsina State, Prime Business Africa reports.
The rescue is the latest breakthrough in a sustained military campaign against armed groups responsible for a wave of kidnappings and attacks across parts of the state.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs identified the rescued victims as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36; and Salisu Danja, 50.

The ministry said the victims were rescued during operations in locations believed to be linked to the activities of the bandit group. Medical personnel treated them for gunshot wounds allegedly sustained while they were in captivity.
The development comes as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in Katsina and other parts of the North-West, where banditry and kidnapping have remained major security challenges.
Authorities said the four victims were among those previously seen in a photograph with the late Major General Rabe Abubakar. The late general’s wife had earlier been rescued by security operatives.
The successful rescue is expected to boost confidence in ongoing security operations and offers fresh hope to families of victims still being held by kidnappers. It also signals increasing pressure on criminal groups as security forces step up efforts to track down their leaders and disrupt their operations.

The state government commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the operation, describing their efforts as critical to restoring peace in affected communities.
It said security personnel remain on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other members of his gang, adding that operations would continue until those responsible for attacks, abductions and other crimes are apprehended.
The government also reiterated its commitment to working with security agencies to tackle insecurity and ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
