Kannywood Actor Kawu Mala Is Dead

Kannywood, the renowned film industry known for producing movies in the Hausa language in northern Nigeria, is currently grieving the loss of one of its esteemed members. Aminu Muhammad, fondly known as Kawu Mala in the highly acclaimed TV series ‘Dadin Kowa,’ broadcast on Arewa24.

After bravely battling a heart-related ailment for numerous years, the talented actor passed away on the evening of May 7. Mala, a prominent figure in the industry with over two decades of experience, gained widespread recognition for his remarkable portrayal in the popular TV series.

Mala, survived by his wife and more than 10 children, was laid to rest on Monday morning at Haye Cemetery in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Murtala Karabiti, one of Mala’s colleagues in the acting industry, expressed deep sorrow over his demise, emphasizing the significant void it has created in the industry. Karabiti further added that Mala’s contributions to the development of filmmaking in northern Nigeria will always be remembered.

In his heartfelt tribute, Karabiti said, “We affectionately called him Doctor, as he was a friend to everyone and a brother to most of us. I have known him for over 20 years, and throughout that time, I have never heard a single negative comment about him. Now that he has departed, it is our duty to pray for the repose of his soul.”
