Nigeria Customs started on a bright note in the Inaugural Africa Women’s Basketball League, AWBL, which tipped off today (Monday, 11 December 2023) in Egypt.

Star forward Nkem Akaraiwe scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebound to proppel the Border Girls as Customs are known to a 57-46 point win over Université de Douala of Cameroon.

In another game today, REG beat Overdose Up Station 86-45 to open group B action.

Up next for Nigeria Customs is their 2nd group A game on Wednesday against Kenya Ports Authority, KPA.

A total of 10 teams split into two groups of A and B are taking part in the championship with top four sides from each pool qualifying for the knockout round of 8.
