The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following technical failures recorded during the 2026 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Prime Business Africa reports.
The board said the decision was taken after a comprehensive review of the mock exercise, which exposed lapses in some centres’ operational readiness and compliance with required standards.

The affected states are Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, and the FCT.
JAMB explained that the move is part of efforts to safeguard the integrity of the examination process and ensure that only centres with proven technical capacity participate in the main UTME.

According to the board, candidates had reported several challenges during the mock examination, including system malfunctions, delayed commencement of exams, and other technical disruptions. These complaints were subsequently verified through internal audits, leading to the delisting of the affected centres.
In addition to the sanctions, JAMB issued warnings to 89 other CBT centres found to have minor deficiencies, urging them to address the issues before the commencement of the main examination. The board also barred one centre from participating in future UTME exercises due to severe infractions.
The mock UTME, conducted ahead of the main examination, serves as a quality assurance mechanism to test the readiness of centres and identify potential issues that could affect candidates’ performance.
Over 2.2 million candidates registered for the 2026 UTME nationwide, with JAMB accrediting about 1,000 CBT centres to facilitate the exercise.
