International Energy Insurance, Zichis Agro Among Losers As NGX Loses N440bn

Sell-off in International Energy Insurance, Zichis Agro, amongst others contributed to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) losing 712.67 basis points in the all-share index (ASI) on Thursday.

Due to the all-share index declining to 240,037.8 ASI, from 240,750.47 ASI recorded on Wednesday, the stock market capitalisation lost N440.32 billion.

The loss dragged the bourse’s capitalisation down from N155.41 trillion recorded the previous day to N154,97 trillion at the end of trading today.

Over 2.87 billion shares were traded in 34,725 deals, valued at N33.99 billion on Thursday, up from the 1.19 billion shares traded in 34,546 deals, worth N37.81 billion, the day before.

Top Five Gainers

  • FGSUK2032S7’s share price increased by N16.8 kobo, from N112.93 kobo to N129.77 kobo per share.
  • HM Call’s share ended trading at N3.85 kobo per share, from N3.52 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.33 kobo.
  • FGSUK2033S6 share value grew by N9.36 kobo, from N100.30 kobo to N109.66 kobo per share.
  • Trans-Nationwide’s share appreciated by N0.25 kobo to end trading at N3.06 kobo, having opened with N2.81 kobo.
  • FGSUK2027S3 share value was up by N8, after closing at N98, from N90 per share.

Top Five Losers

  • International Energy Insurance’s share price depreciated by N0.47 kobo, dwindling from N4.77 kobo to N4.30 kobo per share.
  • Wapic recorded a N0.24 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.20 kobo, after opening with N2.44 kobo.
  • Fortis Global Insurance reported a N0.20 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.85 kobo, after opening with N2.05 per share.
  • Ava Capital lost N0.60 kobo in its share price, to sell at N7, down from N7.60 kobo per share.
  • Zichis reported a decline of N1.35 kobo, from the previous share price of N18.35 kobo, to end trading at N17 per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Fortis Global Insurance reported that 2.55 billion shares valued at N5.23 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company recorded 28.06 million shares valued at N211.40 million.
  • Trans-Nationwide Express saw investors trade 21.64 million of its shares valued at N66.17 million.
  • UBA recorded 17.87 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N803.65 million.
  • First HoldCo reported that traders exchanged 15.65 million shares valued at N2.02 billion.
