President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed on Tuesday, 18th March 2025,  Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State. This appointment followed the declaration of a state of emergency in the state and suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu. Ibas, a retired Vice Admiral of the Nigerian Navy, brings decades of military leadership to the role. Ibok-Ete Ibas was born on 27 September 1960 in Nko, Cross River State. He started his education at Nko Primary School before completing it at Big Qua Primary School in Calabar.   • Pakistan – National Defence Course at the National Defence College, Islamabad (2005-2006)
  • United Kingdom – London International Leadership Course (2012)
  • United States – Harvard Kennedy School Leadership Course (2013)
