Guinean Military President Threatens National Team To Win AFCON

Guinea military President Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya has sensationally warned the country’s national team that they must win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations or face its dire consequences.

 

The team were in the Presidential House for their send-off ceremony where Doumbouya who became military leader through a Coup that toppled former President Alpha Condé in October made the shocking pronouncement.

 

Guinea are in Group B of the continental showpiece alongside Zimbabwe, Senegal and Malawi.

 

“Bring back the trophy or bring back the money we invested in you. Period,” the President warned the team.

 

Guinea kick start their campaign against Malawi on January 10.

 

The 2021 AFCON, the 33rd edition of the tournament will kick-off on January 9 to February 6, 2022 in Cameroon.
