Gates Cambridge 2023 Fully-funded Scholarship Opens For PhD, Masters Applicants

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship has opened applications for 2023/2024 academic sessions for postgraduate students across the world.

The application opened on Thursday, September 15, 2022. The  programme offers a fully-paid scholarship to beneficiaries to study at Cambridge University.

The scholarship program was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge. This happens to be the largest ever single donation to a UK university, with the first set of scholars coming into residence in October 2001 (https://www.gatescambridge.org/).

Every year after the commencement, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship offers life-changing fully funded scholarships to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

For the 2023  batch, approximately two-thirds of these awards will be offered to Ph.D. students, with about 25 awards available in the US round and 55 available for the International round.

Who can apply?

Citizens of nations outside the United Kingdom who intend to enroll in one of the following programs at the University of Cambridge, eligible candidates can apply for:

Ph.D., either full- or part-time

MLitt (full-time).

One year of full-time postgraduate study.

It added that the Gates Cambridge does not considered the following courses:

Business Doctorate (BusD)

Master of Business (MBA)

Master of Finance (MFin)

MASt courses

PGCE

MBBChir Clinical Studies

MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time, Home students only)

Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)

Part-time degrees other than the PhD

Any Undergraduate degree, such as BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA), and

Non-degree courses.

Gates Cambridge is also launching a program that enables candidates to apply for funding for a part-time Ph.D. degree for enrollment in October 2023.

Application deadline, dependent on your course – either 1st December 2022 or 5th January 2023 (see Course Directory  https://www.postgraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses).

Departmental ranking December – February

All applicants will be notified of the application outcome by Friday, 3rd March 2022

Review and selection by panels will take place in March 2023, scholarships will be offered late March.

Scholarships accepted 72 hours after the offer.

Even if you are not eligible for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship you may be eligible for other funding offered by the University of Cambridge. See www.student-funding.cam.ac.uk for more details.
