Funke Akindele Cautions Young Ladies Against Greed

Popular Actor, Director and Producer, Funke Akindele, has urged younger ladies to remain focused if they hope to realise their dreams in life. Akindele who was speaking on programme, “Learning to Conquer as a woman” on Arise TV said challenges in the course of building a career will definitely come but only the focused can overcome them.

Humility she added is equally very important to avoid losing track.  The coming of the social media has made some young girls wrongly believe that they have arrived while creating a poor image of themselves. “You have followership on social media and you begin to see yourself as an influencer what are you influencing?

“I have good followership on social media, I appreciate the accolades but I don’t let that get into my head because if you do, you begin to lose track” she said

Akindele who recalled getting her big break from old television programme, “I need to know” years back maintained that there is no alternative to hard work.

On early challenges of her acting career, the popular ‘Jenifa’ creator said she refused to give room to unnecessary advances to get roles from day one. “I never gave room to unnecessary advances. It cost me roles but it didn’t discourage me. The moment you come up with that I quickly ask you, Are you okay? I mean is something wrong with you? You will see my reactions and understand that I won’t give room for such”

Akindele who partook in the last election as Deputy Governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, cautioned young women against greed and tendency to join the band wagon.

“Don’t be greedy, and don’t do things just because others are doing it. You must know what you want, work hard towards it and you will get there at your own time” she submitted

The multiple award winner, is the second director to gross over a billion naira at the Nigeria box office and currently the Highest grossing Nigerian Director in Nigerian Box Office with a total Gross of over ₦2.9 billion.
