Lyrics Of 'Nigeria We Hail Thee' National Anthem

President Bola Tinubu has officially signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, reinstating Nigeria’s first national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”

This announcement was made on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a joint session of the National Assembly, which also marked President Tinubu’s first year in office.

“Nigeria, We Hail Thee,” originally unveiled on October 1, 1960, the day Nigeria gained her independence, and was composed by Lillian Jean Williams, a British woman residing in Nigeria at the time.

Nigeria, we hail thee,

Our own dear native land,

Though tribe and tongue may differ,

In brotherhood, we stand,

Nigerians all, and proud to serve

Our sovereign Motherland.
