The Federal Government has convened an emergency closed-door meeting with the leadership of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and representatives of Dangote Refinery in Abuja.

The meeting, led by Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammad Maigari Dingyadi, aims to resolve the ongoing feud between the two parties.

PENGASSAN, led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, and General-Secretary of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Dr. Nuhu Toro, is meeting with Dangote Refinery representatives to find a solution to the dispute. The Minister of Labour and Employment emphasized the importance of resolving the issue, stating, “What’s happening today is very dear to our economy and to the security of the country. We have been informed that PENGASSAN is on strike.”

TUC Rejects 5% Fuel Surcharge, Threatens Strike

The meeting’s objective is to resolve the dispute between PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery, which involves PENGASSAN, Dangote Refinery, and the Federal Government.

PENGASSAN has embarked on a nationwide strike over the dispute, which may lead to fuel shortages, price hikes, and widespread hardship for millions of Nigerians.

The meeting, initially scheduled for 2:00 pm, started late due to the delayed arrival of critical stakeholders. The outcome of the meeting is expected to determine the future of Nigeria’s fuel supply and economy.
