Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has been arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, by operatives acting on a Federal High Court order authorising his arrest over allegations of certificate forgery linked to an ongoing investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prime Business Africa reports.
The arrest took place on Wednesday as the former minister attempted to board a chartered flight to Abuja. He was subsequently taken into custody for transfer to ICPC officials for interrogation in Abuja.

Court records show that a Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier issued a bench warrant for Nnaji’s arrest following an ex parte application by the ICPC, which alleged that he failed to respond to repeated invitations for questioning in the course of its investigation.
The ICPC investigation centres on allegations that Nnaji presented questionable academic and National Youth Service Corps certificates during his ministerial screening and confirmation process in 2023. The commission is examining discrepancies in his academic records, including issues relating to his claimed graduation and supporting documentation.

Nnaji has denied wrongdoing through his representatives, maintaining that he was not properly served with valid summonses or invitations by the ICPC. His legal team has also filed processes challenging the court order and seeking to set aside the arrest warrant on procedural and evidential grounds.
With the execution of the court-backed warrant, the former minister is expected to face interrogation by ICPC investigators in Abuja as part of ongoing inquiries into the allegations.
