Flying Eagles, Falconets Set To Represent Nigeria At Africa Games In Ghana

Nigeria’s U-20 men and women’s football teams will represent the country in the 2023 Africa Games to be hosted by Ghana March 8th -24th 2024, reports Prime Business Africa.

The Flying Eagles were one of the eight quarterfinalists at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023 ans will be joined by seven other nations including Benin, Congo, Gambia, Ghana, Senegal, South Sudan, Tunisia and Uganda.

The decision to have the eight teams participate at the tournament was taken by the CAF Executive Committee, seating in Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire where the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is currently taking place.

CAF confirmed that the same age category that applied during the U-20 AFCON will be adopted in March for the African Games – previously called ‘The All African Games.’

Meanwhile the Super Falconets, the country’s women’s U-20 national team will fly Nigeria’s flag in Ghana as they were one of the countries that participated in the fourth qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022.

The same age category will be applicable for the women’s football event of the Games with Falconets to be joined by host Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Morocco, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda.
