First HoldCo, Lasaco Add N244.61bn To Nigerian Stock Market

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) said the market capitalisation for the stock market increased to N95.52 trillion on Wednesday, December 17, from the N95.28 trillion posted on Tuesday, December 16, representing a N244.61 billion gain.

About 383.71 basis points were added to the all-share index (ASI), which appreciated from 149,459.11 ASI to 149,842.82 ASI.

The NGX said 5.92 billion shares were traded in 25,205 deals, valued at N216.19 billion, against the 1.02 billion shares, valued at N21.82 billion, exchanged in 23,701 deals on Tuesday.

Top five gainers

  • First HoldCo’s share price increased by N3.60 kobo to rise from N36 to N39.60 kobo per share.
  • Lasaco’s share value grew by N0.25 kobo, from N2.50 kobo to N2.75 kobo per share.
  • Veritas Kapital ended trading at N1.76 kobo per share, from N1.60 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.16 kobo.
  • Prestige gained N0.15 kobo to end trading at N1.65 kobo, having opened with N1.50 kobo.
  • Mecure’s share value was up by N4.55 kobo, after closing at N50.40 kobo from N45.85 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Livingtrust’s share price depreciated by N0.35 kobo, dwindling from N3.50 kobo to N3.15 kobo per share.
  • International Energy Insurance recorded a N0.25 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.27 kobo after opening with N2.52 kobo per share.
  • MCNichols lost N0.22 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N2.97 kobo from N3.19 kobo per share.
  • Omatek recorded a N6.84 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.09 kobo after opening with N1.17 kobo per share.
  • Chams reported a decline of N0.20 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N3.12 kobo to end trading at N2.92 kobo per share.

  • Ecobank reported that 5.24 billion shares valued at N168.65 billion were traded on its floor.
  • First HoldCo recorded 108.14 million shares valued at N4.21 billion.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company saw investors trade 87.31 million of its shares valued at N606.15 million.
  • FCMB recorded 74.27 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N783.56 million.
  • Access Holdings reported 41.50 million shares valued at N841.35 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
