FICKLE minded Arsenal fans have been lambasted by Sir Alex Ferguson for their sorry treatment of legendary manager Arsene Wenger

The iconic Manchester United manager who along with Wenger was regarded as the most successful managers of the game in the English top flight was speaking ahead of the launch of the ‘Arsene Wenger: Invincible’ documentary.

Ferguson said of his friend and old rival: “He kept them in Europe every year and yet he was criticised. The supporters should be ashamed.

“Arsene and myself are dinosaurs, but we didn’t do so badly.

“I won 13 leagues but I was never near going through a season undefeated. The achievement stands above everything else, and it was Arsene’s.”

Ferguson similarly paid tribute to the Frenchman when he was inducted to the Hall of Fame of the Premier League.

Speaking in 2017, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola it will be recalled leapt to the Frenchman’s defence as well after he was subject to scathing remarks after a 5-1 thumping at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Spaniard who has proven to be in the legion of gtol managers in English Premier League said: “What I hear in the last 10 days, about how people, ex-players, journalists, treat Arsene Wenger is unacceptable.

Wenger was succeeded by Unai Emery who was later sacked after a year and had since been replaced by Mikel Arteta after a temporary stint as interim coach by Freddy Ljungberg.
