Popular rapper, actor and activist Folarin Falana better known as Falz, has opened up on how he has avoided heart break on the altar of love.

The 34-year-old son of legal luminary, Femi Falana, revealed in a recent interview that saying the cliché “I love You” has always been a taboo for him, which explains why his heart has remained intact.

Speaking on the WithChude podcast by Chude Jideonwo, Falz explained that he has never fully opened his heart to anyone, which has shielded him from heartbreak.

He clarified that while he is not devoid of emotions, it has never gotten to a level of commitment where he would say “I love you” to anyone.

As if pre-empting the next question as to whether he could be ‘having a heart of stone”, the rapper, actor cum activist said he expresses affection differently, admitting that he has said “I like you” to someone he’s interested in but has never taken the leap to declare love.

One way to avoid drowning, he insinuated, is to resist the temptation to put both legs inside water. “I have never been heartbroken. If you don’t put your legs inside water, can you drown? I haven’t presented my heart that much to be broken. I have been giving small amount of it ooo.

“But in a romantic way, I have never told somebody ‘I love you.’ It is not a sad thing, I’m not devoid of emotion, don’t get it twisted. I have said, Oh, I like you. I just haven’t said ‘I’m in love with you”, he submitted.

The 2019, 2020 Album of the year and best rap single Headies awards winner may have recommended survival strategy for perennial victims of heart break as well as those suffering from heart break phobia.

Meanwhile, Nigerian men who have a huge crush for Afrobeats goddess, Tiwa Savage and are struggling on how to impress her, have been given a manual.

Savage in a recent interview told anyone who cares to listen that she is not looking for men with swag, submitting that swag with romance is sea route to nowhere for her.

According to the ‘Somebody’s son go find me one day “crooner, Nigerian men could also be generous, but she is not looking for ‘swag and money.’

She said, “Nigerian men do have swag, but they are not really romantic when it comes down to it. “They know how to swag and splash cash but I’m not looking for that.”

Relationship experts however opine that hardship, particularly economic hardship and financial stress, can negatively affect romance and relationship quality.

Stress and financial strain can lead to increased tension and frustration between partners, potentially lowering commitment to the relationship whether within or outside marriage.
