Sadio Mane was the scorer of the only goal as Liverpool moved to within three points of leaders Manchester City after a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday evening.

Manchester City face city rivals United and would be desperate to extend their lead at the top.

Man of the Match Trent Alexander-Arnold found the Senegal forward on 27 minutes but it could have been more as Mohamed Salah was denied by Lukasz Fabianski while at the other end Alisson twice denied Michail Antonio.

Despite losing Jarrod Bowen to injury, West Ham missed a glorious opportunity to equalise on 71 minutes, when Manuel Lanzini fired over from close range.

In the first Premier League game on Saturday, Leicester City pipped Leeds United 1-0.

Newcastle United defeated Brighton and Hoves 2-1 to steer clear of the drop zone, Crystal Palace put Wolverhampton Wanderers’ European places at risk with a 2-0 win while Brentford overcame Norwich City 2-1.
