Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of violating a court order by denying his father access to medical care and family support while in detention.
In a statement issued on Thursday night, Bello El-Rufai alleged that officials of the anti-graft agency prevented the former governor’s personal doctor from seeing him despite an existing court order granting him unrestricted medical access.
According to the lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, the doctor arrived at the ICPC headquarters around 3 p.m. to discuss the outcome of recent medical tests conducted on the former governor, but was turned away by officials who reportedly insisted that written approval from the ICPC Chairman was required before access could be granted.

He described the action as a direct violation of a valid court order and an infringement on his father’s constitutional rights.
The lawmaker also accused the commission of preventing his mother, Aunty Aichatou, from delivering El-Rufai’s evening meal at about 7 p.m., claiming that ICPC personnel cited an internal directive barring food deliveries after 6:30 p.m.
Bello El-Rufai described both actions as “an outright assault on the rule of law” and condemned what he termed arbitrary restrictions imposed on his father while in detention.
“No lawful detention justifies denying medical access or refusing basic family care based on an arbitrary curfew fixed by the ICPC,” he stated.
He further accused the commission of engaging in “a pattern of intimidation dressed up as protocol” and demanded that all constitutional rights of the former governor be respected.
The ICPC had not issued an official response to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
