Emmanuel OchayiThe Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged youths nationwide to resist the allure of cybercrime.
Speaking during a visit by students of ARWA Basic School, Abuja, to the EFCC headquarters, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of cultivating the right mentality to fend off criminal activities.
“It is your mentality that determines your finality,” he stated, outlining modalities, frameworks, and strategies to empower youths against internet offenses.
Olukoyede encouraged the development of innovation, industry, and a mindset focused on clean wealth and honor, stressing the power of the mind in resisting fraudulent activities. He emphasized the value of hard work in achieving success without resorting to illicit means.

Addressing the students, Deputy Director and Head of EFCC Radio, Nwayinma Okeanu, underscored the significance of the fight against economic and financial crimes in securing Nigeria’s future and global standing. She highlighted corruption as a major setback for the nation and called for collective efforts to combat it.
During a presentation on the effects of economic and financial crimes, Head of Public Interface Unit, ACE 1 Tony Orilade, emphasized the negative impact of such crimes on both individuals and the economy. Orilade stressed the importance of prevention and prosecution in maintaining a healthy economic environment.
Assistant Superintendent, ACE 1 ArmaYa’u Aliyu, cautioned students against engaging in cybercrimes, citing stalking, hacking, and business email compromise as common forms of criminal activity. Aliyu warned of the severe consequences of involvement in such crimes and urged students to resist peer pressure.
Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, Aisha Mohammed, highlighted the EFCC’s commitment to preventing corruption and welcomed students to the Commission for educational tours aimed at reshaping their perception of corruption. Mohammed urged students to support the EFCC’s efforts and become ambassadors for anti-corruption advocacy.
In conclusion, EFCC’s Head of Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale, reiterated the Commission’s stance against economic and financial crimes. Oyewale emphasized the role of youths in safeguarding the nation’s integrity and encouraged them to embrace positive values in their pursuit of success.
