Edo government boosts education sector with ‘EdoBEST’

Stakeholders in the Edo state education sector have applauded its state government for introducing the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST).

They said asides from helping the state to boost primary education, the initiative has also enhanced strong communication channels with the SUBEB and also ensured that teachers are trained.

In a statement, the education secretary of Uhunmwonde LGEA, Mr. Peter Osakpamwan said “despite being one of the poorest local government, the government has trained over seven hundred and fifty four teachers in about eighty two schools in the state.”

Mr. Peter Ilegar, the education secretary of Owan West thanked the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki for the introduction of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) and Social Mobilization officers for the cooperation these bodies had brought between teachers and non-teaching staff, members of the community and schools.

He also said that the EdoBEST initiative has enabled him to develop stronger communication with his staff, field officers, and the board despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
