Immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has urged Nigerian Christians to remain firm in their faith and keep working and praying for the country’s renewable.

Chief Obiano gave the admonition in his 2023 Easter goodwill message to Nigerians.

Easter is a season when Christians commemorate the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind.

Obiano who is also a member of the Pontifical Order of the Knight of St Gregory the Great (KSG), said the season of Easter symbolises new life and fulfilment of promise.

He added that just as Christ passed through trials and emerged victorious over death, Nigeria has also endured trials of harsh economy, insecurity, diseases, and governance issues among others.

“The season of Easter in Christendom symbolises new life and fulfilment of promise,” Obiano stated.

“Towards the end of his ministry, Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of the Christian faith, passed through trials, which culminated in his Crucifixion on Good Friday. But on Easter Sunday, he resurrected. His resurrection rekindled hope of believers in his salvific mission.

“Nigeria has also passed through trials, from harsh economy to insecurity, diseases, governance issues among others. With the power of the Resurrection, I wish Nigerians new life and fulfilment of the promises they have been hoping to see in their lifetime.

“May the joy of the celebration bring with it a new confidence that there is, without a doubt, light at the end of the tunnel.

“I urge all Christians to hold fast to their faith and to keep praying for Nigeria’s renewal in no distant time.

“I wish all Nigerians, my fellow Christian brothers and sisters, as well as the great people of Anambra a Happy Easter celebration.

“May God bless our families with inner peace and abundant happiness,” he concluded.
