Dutch Court Sentences Former Ajax Forward For Cocaine Smuggling

The career of former Ajax and Netherlands winger Quincy Promes is in jeopardy as he has been convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment by a Dutch court for his involvement in a large-scale cocaine smuggling operation.

Promes who is currently appealing a sentence for an 18-month conviction for stabbing his cousin was found guilty of importing over 1,350 kilograms of cocaine, valued at €75 million Euros.

Promes who is of Ghanaian descent was not in court when the verdict was delivered as he resides in Russia where residents are not extradited thus avoiding immediate imprisonment.

Promes currently plays professional football for Spartak Moscow.
