Ajax winger Antony is set to be reunited with former Erik ten Hag as Manchester United close in on a deal worth up to €100 million (about £85m) to snap up the enigmatic forward.

Several sources in the British media indicate that United will pay an initial fee of £80.75m, with a further £4.25m in add-ons for the pacey forward.

The 22-year-old is due in Manchester for a medical within the next 48 hours.

The 22-year-old reportedly went on strike at Ajax in a bid to force a move to Old Trafford, with the attacker making it clear that he wants to leave the Eredivisie champions this summer.

“Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive and with them, certainly a great offer,” Antony told Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano in an exclusive.

Meanwhile Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder said that “everything is about money” when he spoke to the media on the future of Antony.

“Nowadays, everything is about money. I find this sad. But this is our world, it’s very sad and I don’t approve that these things are happening at us,” Schreuder told the press as quoted by ESPN.

“I want to talk about the game, not about Antony. I have said more than enough about this,”the manager stressed.
