The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that the sale of Direct Entry (DE) e-PINs for the 2023 admissions process will officially end on Saturday, May 26, 2023.

Furthermore, the registration for candidates who have acquired the e-PIN will conclude on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Fabian Benjamin, the acting Director of Public Affairs at JAMB, issued a statement on Tuesday morning, emphasizing the unique nature of the 2023 DE registration.

The registration process, which began in February 2023, was extended to allow all intending candidates to participate. At one point, it was temporarily suspended to incorporate measures aimed at improving the integrity of the exercise.

Benjamin stated, “The 2023 DE registration is distinct from previous years as it introduced features designed to enhance the Board’s ability to effectively address loopholes that were exploited by certain individuals with vested interests.”

He further added, “The surge in the number of candidates witnessed in some of our offices was not surprising. The new measures have exposed numerous cases of falsification and other infractions in the DE registration process. This highlights one of the many benefits of a regulated DE registration exercise.”

The controlled DE registration exercise has ensured that only deserving candidates are captured, with only a few exceptional cases remaining in select JAMB offices, particularly in Lagos. To prevent further overcrowding, the Board has implemented a scheduling system in which candidates are allocated specific days for their DE registration.

The impending closure of DE e-PIN sales and registration underscores the need for aspiring students to promptly complete their registration process. JAMB urges all eligible candidates to take advantage of the remaining time and ensure their registration is completed before the specified deadlines.

As the deadline approaches, candidates are advised to stay updated with official announcements from JAMB to avoid missing out on this crucial opportunity. The Board remains committed to facilitating a fair and transparent admissions process that upholds the integrity of the educational system in Nigeria.
