In the wake of the recent ID docuseries, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” Dan Schneider, the former Nickelodeon series creator, has taken a step by addressing some of the allegations made against him.

In a 20-minute interview on his YouTube channel, hosted by BooG!e, who played T-Bo on “iCarly,” Schneider delved into various aspects of his past behaviours, expressing both regret and willingness to make amends.

The interview touched upon several sensitive topics, one of which was Schneider’s acknowledgement of his past misconduct involving on-set massages requested from crew members. Although he had previously issued a statement of apology through his team, Schneider took this opportunity to directly address the issue, admitting that it was wrong.

Schneider said, “It was wrong that I ever put anybody in that position. It was the wrong thing to do. I’d never do it today. I’m embarrassed that I did it then.” His apology extended not only to those directly involved but also to bystanders who may have witnessed the inappropriate behaviour.

In addition, Schneider tackled the issue of potentially inappropriate jokes featured in his shows, which have garnered criticism for their perceived sexualization of young actors.

He acknowledged the evolving perspectives surrounding these jokes and advocated for their removal from reruns if they are deemed offensive. “If there’s anything in a show that needs to be cut because it’s upsetting somebody, let’s cut it,” Schneider affirmed, prioritizing the well-being and comfort of his audience above all else.

Concluding the interview, Schneider expressed regret for his past behaviour and outlined his aspirations for a more conscientious approach, particularly in his interactions with others.
