APC National Convention: No Forms For Chairmanship Candidates, Others As party Crosses Deadline Today

Nigeria's ruling APC is bent on consensus chairman and secretary in line with its plans to avert crisis that could pull down the house in an election year

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) says with its huge membership, the party will win the forthcoming Anambra governorship election and the 2023 polls “convincingly”.

One week to its celebrated National convention, authoritative sources within the hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress leadership and the Presidency have confirmed that the party is  set to ‘appoint’ a consensus chairman from the North Central geopolitical zone.

The deadline for candidates vying for  different national offices, which supposedly began on February 14,  ends today, February 19, 2022.

Yet, Prime Business Africa reports that no form was sold to any of the candidates as the APC National Caretaker Committee leadership works in tandem with the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency  to produce a consensus candidate.

this newspaper had exclusively reported that the ruling party had been working for a ‘unity list’ to avoid ‘tearing the house apart.’  APC , governors are therefore set to meet with the President upon his return from the EU-AU Summit in Brussels, Belgium to put a seal on the agreed  zoning arrangement  for national offices.

Prime Business Africa reported that the Caretaker Committee, APC governors and the Presidency had all agreed to allow the North Central produce Chairman of the party, while the Southeast would produce the National Secretary.

South South has been billed to produce the Deputy National Chairman ; while the Southwest has taken the slot for the National Publicity Secretary.

Northeast, it was gathered, will produce the National Organizing Secretary.
