Ondo Governor Akeredolu Dies At 67

Did Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu  have premonition of the now rumored ailment when he repented in ‘dust and ashes’ during the Deeper Life Bible Church’s Global Gospel Crusade in Ondo town on August 25, 2022?

He was quoted to have said at the religious event that he had strong conviction that Christ would be coming very soon.

Governor Akeredolu, who was present at the Crusade anchored by the General Superintendent of the DLBC, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi, said he would henceforth do whatever the man of God asked Ondo people to do.

“We shall not all die; some us will be here when Christ shall come. We shall not all be raptured. If God tarries, let him meet us with good works,” Akeredolu told Pastor Kumuyi and the Ondo congregation.

“By the grace of God, we shall be rapturable. I will love Christ to meet me here but if he tarries by the grace of God, he will not meet me with any evil work,’’ he said in  total submission to the word of God.

He said he was at the event ‘as a son of God, not as governor,’ stressing that the Deeper Life Bible Church has been attractive to the people of Ondo State because of the wonders that God has been doing through  Pastor Kumuyi.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Ondo State governor is currently fighting blood cancer, a story already denied by his aide. However, an audio which circulated on social media had projected a voice believed to be that of Akeredolu’s wife threatening a female aide for compromising the governor’s medication with ‘concoction’ in an alleged attempt to become deputy governor in the event of Akeredolu’s incapacitation.

Although he looked unusually frail in recent public events, including the courtesy visit of former Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Governor Akeredolu appeared to be in high spirits.

The Repentant Akeredolu

Governor Akeredolu’s appearance and manner of participation at Pastor Kumuyi’s Gospel Crusade in Akure on August 25, 2022 was unique, even as deep sense of humility and acceptance of Christ as his Lord and Personal Saviour thrilled millions of participants.

Prime Business Africa had reported that the visibly excited governor Akeredolu, “who was given just a few minutes to make his introductory remarks as host, spoke for 23 minutes punctuating his remarks in vernacular and ending with a rendition of a Christian Yoruba song at exactly 7.25 pm.”

He had assured the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Kumuyi of the love and support of the people of the State, pledging that his government would follow Pastor Kumuyi’s footsteps to do whatever he declared in Ondo State.

“You cannot find this kind of massive crowd in Ondo State… Whatever you declare here will be carried out in Ondo State. I have the strong belief that Christ will be coming very soon,’’ the Governor said.
