Chelsea Confirms Koulibaly’s Signing From Napoli On Three-year Contract

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli in a deal worth £34million on a three-year contract.

The Senegalese defender rejected a move to Serie A giants Juventus to preserve his iconic status in Naples.

The towering centreback is willing to learn at Chelsea and is not worried about playing in a back three which has been coach Thomas Tuchel’s forte.

It has been a life-long dream of the 31-year-old to play in the Premier League and he believes he will be able to compete for the biggest prizes at the  Blues.

Speaking on the signing of the defender, manager Thomas Tuchel expressed his satisfaction with the business that the club had done.

‘’I’m very happy with him signing and joining our team.

‘’He’s now the second signing of the summer and again we have a strong player, a strong personality with big experience. From our point of view, he’s a perfect addition to the group.’’

Koulibaly flew out to the USA to join his new teammates after undergoing his medicals in London ahead of their pre season friendlies but it is unlikely that he plays in the game against Orlando City which kicks off 2.30am Nigerian time (Sunday morning).
