Caverton Leads Gainers’ List, Royal Exchange Tops Losers’, As Market Cap Gains N518.01bn

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock exchange grew to N27.91 trillion on Friday, from N27.39 trillion recorded on Thursday, after rising by 1.8 per cent, representing N518.01 billion gain.

It rose on the back of the All Share Index, which rose by 951.06 basis points to close at 51,251.06 ASI, rising from the previous day’s 50,300 ASI.

On the exchange floor, investors traded N7.35 billion in 3,566 deals to exchange 890.68 million shares on Friday. It was in contrast to Thursday’s N7.74 billion exchanged for 490.48 million shares in 4,480 deals.

Top five gainers 

Caverton share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.90kobo to N0.99kobo per share 

Presco grew by N12.50kobo, up from N125 to N137.50kobo per share 

Airtel Africa ended trading with N1635 from N1488 per share, rising by N147. 

CWG gained 9.78 per cent to end trading at N1.01, having opened with N0.92kobo. 

Morison stock was up by N0.19kobo, closing with N2.17kobo from N1.98kobo per share.  

Top five losers 

Royal Exchange depreciated by N0.11kobo, dwindling from N1.17kobo to N1.06 per share. 

Fidson also fell by N0.80kobo to end trading at N9, after opening with N9.80kobo per share. 

UAC Nigeria followed the same path, losing N0.85kobo after trading hours, to sell at N10.25kobo from N11.10kobo per share. 

Mutual Benefit reported a decline of 6.90 per cent from previous day’s share price of N0.29kobo to end trading at N0.27kobo per share. 

Ecobank share depreciated to N10.60kobo from N11.30kobo, after losing N0.70kobo during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in stock exchange 

Sovereign Insurance reported 523.92 million shares valued at N146.69 million were traded on its floor 

Access Corp recorded 38.53 million shares valued at N1.51 billion 

Sterling Bank saw investors trade 39.83 million of its shares valued at N55.76 million 

Presco recorded 12.36 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.61 billion 

Mutual Benefit reported 11.75 million shares valued at N3.19 million exchanged investors’ hands.
