The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has restated the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to pursuing terrorists and violent criminal groups “wherever they hide,” as he visited the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) Sector 2 at the 213 Forward Operating Base, Katsina.
During the operational tour on Friday, Air Marshal Aneke charged troops to intensify their offensive posture in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to decisively neutralise all threats undermining national security. He noted that Nigeria’s complex security environment and the sacrifices made by fallen personnel demand unwavering focus and results-driven operations.

The CAS emphasised that recent federal investments in modern platforms, advanced weapon systems and specialised training must translate into “ruthless precision and operational dominance” across all theatres. He praised the professionalism and resilience of NAF personnel, assuring them that their welfare, safety, training and equipment remain top priorities.
“A force that fights hard must also live well,” he noted, reaffirming ongoing efforts to expand welfare and operational infrastructure.
Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, assured the CAS of troops’ readiness to actualise his strategic vision for the NAF. The Air Component Commander, Air Commodore C. E. Illoh, also briefed him on recent gains, current mission plans and evolving strategies.
The CAS inspected operational, engineering, logistics, medical and sports facilities before holding an interactive durbar with personnel, commending their role as the “pride of the nation” whose vigilance keeps millions safe.
Reiterating the NAF’s mission, he said: “Wherever they hide in forests, valleys or remote villages our forces will find them, and we will strike with precision. Our mission is clear: to hunt them down and protect our people.”
The visit, according to the NAF, reinforces its commitment to intelligence-led, precision-driven air operations aimed at safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
