Chelsea coasted to the final of the Carabao Cup with a 6-1 hammering of Championship side Middlesbrough at the Wembley stadium on Tuesday night, reports Prime Business Africa.

The Blues were trailing 1-0 on aggregate after last week’s first leg shocking defeat to the team coached by former Manchester United står Michael Carrick.

However Tuesday’s performance by the Blues is a testament of the quality on show and it marked the highest winning margin in the second leg of the semifinals stage of the competition.

Boro were defensively astute in the first half but all their efforts to contain the Blues were ruined in the second stanza.

Chelsea scored four goals in the first half through a Jonny Howson own goal, Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer.

Palmer grabbed his second of the night while Super Eagles eligible winger and former England U-21 star Noni Madueke completed the rout.

Morgan Rogers scored a consolation for the Riverside outfit

The final of the competition will be played on February 25 with Fulham or Liverpool their opponents as the two face off in Wednesday’s second semifinals
