February 3, 2022

Africa football governing body, CAF has announced that the Nations Cup third-place play-off has been brought forward a day from Sunday to Saturday, February 5.

The game was originally scheduled to take place just three hours before the final on Sunday. But it will now go down on Saturday by 8:00 pm.

CAF said playing the final and the third place matches on Sunday would have caused problems for security forces in the Cameroonian capital and CAF officials would not have been able to distribute medals to the third-place team and make it to the final, a distance of about 12 kilometres, on time.

Burkina Faso will be waiting for the loser of today’s Semi final game between host Cameroon and Egypt in the third place play-off.
